In every single transaction you make with your card or digital card, your provider charges a small transaction fee to the retailer. This is called an interchange fee.
Unlike the traditional digital banks, who keep the entire interchange fee to themselves, or round-up apps that treat giving as an add-on, Torch shares half of what it makes on every transaction with your chosen cause — automatically, every time. Like magic!

Every time you pay with your Torch card, the shop's bank pays a small fee to us - it's how card payments have always worked, and it comes out of the merchant's side, not yours. Torch shares half of what we make on that transaction with the cause you've chosen. Nothing is added to your bill, nothing is taken from your balance, and the price you pay is exactly the price on the label.
Yes. Your cause isn't a commitment you're locked into - you choose it when you set up your card, and you can switch it in the app whenever your priorities change. Pick any UK-registered charity, from a national organisation to the community group down the road. If the one you're looking for isn't listed yet, tell us and we'll get in touch with them about joining.
Yes. Your money is held in safeguarded accounts and kept separate from Torch’s own funds. It isn’t lent out, invested or used to operate our business. It always remains your money. Customer funds are safeguarded by our regulated banking partners in line with UK regulatory requirements.
The Torch app is protected with bank-level encryption and multi-factor authentication. If your card is ever lost or stolen, you can freeze or unfreeze it instantly in the app.

No - and the difference matters. Round-up apps ask you to give a little extra at the till: it's your money, and it costs you something every time. Torch doesn't touch your balance. We share half of the fee we earn on your transaction. You're not giving more. You're spending exactly as you would anyway.
